What Media will not tell you about John McCain

John McCain?
This is an assessment of John McCain preparation and experience to be President and Commander-in-Chief prior to his political career. A discussion of his Commander-in-Chief qualification has been taboo in the media. Yet, he can still assert that this is his advantage over Obama. I would hope that John McCain or his people would share with us the aspects of his military career that provides viable experience for the role of Commander-in-Chief. The charges of elitism leveled at Obama are a truly reflected in John McCain's life. Elitism and privilege have been the cornerstones of his life journey, certainly not character, intellect and merit.

-----------------------------------------------------

McCain's Chronology – by Gabriel Braun

McCain attended Episcopal High School, a private preparatory boarding school in Alexandria. Current tuition is approximately $40,000.00 per year. In 2007 the school officially removed all references to its nickname, as "The High School" citing it created an elitist image that could be offensive to those outside the Episcopal High School community.
---Seems McCain got a good start for an Elitist. I wonder if they would accept vouchers he supports from inner city kids---
In 1957 McCain entered the Naval Academy. His father and paternal grandfather both became four-star United States Navy admirals and Naval Academy graduates". McCain graduated nearly last in his class (894 of 899).
---Elitist Privilege got him in the Naval Academy. It is very likely if not for his family lineage McCain standing would have been even worse and possibly even kicked out of the Academy---
Graduating from flight school in 1960, he became a naval pilot stationed in A-1 Skyraider squadrons, on the aircraft carriers USS Intrepid and USS Enterprise, in the Caribbean and Mediterranean Seas.
---How in the world could he possibly be admitted to flight school with such a poor performance at the Academy? I am certain that graduates 893 and 895 did not join him at flight school. Also he went non-combat cruising in the Caribbean and Mediterranean not a war zone - luck or elitist privilege.---
During his 7 year non-combat service, planes he flew crashed three times, he admitted in a recent interview with CNN that he not put much effort in flight training. McCain would eventually crash a total of 5 planes including the final one he was shot down in.
---Poor pilot or just bad luck?---
McCain's first marriage. McCain married Carol Shepp in July 1965 a successful swimwear model in Philadelphia. She first knew John McCain while he was attending the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis from 1954 to 1958. She then married one of his classmates, Alasdair Swanson, in 1958 and had two children lived in Pensacola, Florida. The couple subsequently divorced in June 1964, after she sued him for infidelity.
---John McCain was in flight school during the time she lived with her first husband in Pensacola. Just a thought not a accusation.
"McCain requested a combat assignment, and in December 1966 was assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal. McCain's combat duty began when he was 30 years old, in summer 1967. "
---Privilege kept him out of the war for 7 years. Guilt and conscience? No, he estimated that the war could not last much longer, so he needed to get his feet wet in preparation for his expected future inheritence of Navy Admiral--
McCain ignites deadly Forestall fire! "Some surviving crewmen and investigators reported that a chain of explosive events were initiated when McCain deliberately 'wet-started' his A-4E Skyhawk to shake up the guy in the F-4 Phantom behind his A-4, igniting a Zuni rocket on the F4". McCain escaped from his jet, dropping two bombs beneath his plane, one soon exploded and killed the entire on deck fire fighting contingent, with the exception of three men who survived with critical injuries. The ensuing fire left 134 sailors dead, 161 injured, damage totaling $72 million and took 24 hours to control. It was the worst non-combat-related accident in American Naval history. The official final report could not identify an exact cause of the chain of events that led to the disaster. Nearly everyone in the immediate vicinity of the died including pilots and first responder fire fighters. McCain was the only crewman immediately transferred. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chuiyXQKw3I
---McCain ran for his life. The pilot in the adjacent plane died and all but three of the initial fire fighting crew. No eyewitnesses. I am sure that the official report met the approval of his farther ---
John McCain's capture and imprisonment began in October 1967 after only flying his twenty-third (20 hours total) bombing mission over North Vietnam. When the communist learned that McCain's father was Admiral John S. McCain, Jr., the soon-to-be commander of all U.S. Forces in the Pacific, he was rushed to Gai Lam military hospital (U.S. government documents), a medical facility normally unavailable for U.S. POWs.
---He only served 20 hours in combat missions, poor pilot or bad luck? Media accounts lead us to believe that most of his lasting injuries were accountable to torture during his 5 years of captivity, but the truth is that most of his injures were suffered during his crash and capture---
In mid-1968, McCain's father was named commander of all U.S. forces in the Vietnam theater, and McCain was offered early release by the Vietnamese.
---Elitist Privilege again. After considering the burden haunting guilt and his previous failed attempts to live up to his family name, he turned down the request. He a recent interview with Rick Warren, McCain jokenly stated that if he had known that the war would continue for 5 years he would have acted differently. There may be som truth in his humor.---
McCain made 32 video taped anti-American propaganda "confession". He has always felt that his statement was dishonorable, but as he would later write, "I had learned what we all learned over there: Every man has his breaking point.
--- John McCain would later level heavy criticism at others deemed collaborators and captives who accepted early release, using words as strong as treason. He later even blamed the American anti-war movement for prisoners breakdown.---
Soon after his confession, Mr. McCain seemed to court punishment, noisily cussing out his captors while giving "thumbs up" signs to his fellow prisoners.
"No matter what he did, he always played to the bleachers," Robert Coram, a military historian, wrote in a book about the camps.
McCain wrote, "It helped me keep at bay the unsettled feelings of guilt and self doubt my confession had aroused."
--- Joining the combat effort was his initial play to the bleachers, refusing release was his second play, McCain continued stand in as a hero to cover for the haunting he guilt assumed for his confession and his continuous effort to live up to his family elite military status---
In August 1968, McCain made a suicide attempt, which was stopped by guards.
---Guilt and self doubt realized equaled suicide. How ironic saved by the Viennese ---
For 23 combat missions (an estimated 20 hours over enemy territory), the U.S. Navy awarded McCain a Silver Star, a Legion of Merit for Valor, a Distinguished Flying Cross, three Bronze Stars, two Commendation medals plus two Purple Hearts and a dozen service medals.
Bill Bell, a veteran of Vietnam and former chief of the U.S. Office for POW/MIA Affairs stated-. "Since McCain got 28 medals, that equals out to about a medal-and-a-half for each hour he spent in combat.
---His family's military elitist pedigree enabled this vast exaggeration of the facts. This contributed McCain to false hero persona, which he continues to parley for all its worth. He truly believes the hype. The media has never had the backbone to challenge him on his true military record. ---
After release in 1973, Mr. McCain was one of about a half-dozen former prisoners of war who spent the year at the National War College, an elite academy for future admirals or generals.
---What about his academic or military career merited this opportunity? Of all the officers released, was he one of the 6 most qualified or just most connected? Oops, his father and grandfather were admirals, Elitist Affirmative Action---
In 1976 he became commanding officer of a training squadron stationed in Florida. McCain served as the Navy's liaison to the U.S. Senate beginning in 1977.
---A year commanding a training squadron, then Senate liaison? (1) He has never worked in the private sector- he has no real world life experience outside of military/government. (2) Again Elitism continues to pull him along in life, merit could not possibly justify this assignment.---
During his time in Florida, McCain had extramarital affairs, and he would later accept blame. His wife Carol had suffered her own crippling ordeal during his captivity, due to an automobile accident in December 1969, which left the previous 5' 8" model, four inches shorter, substantially heavier, and a permanent limp. In April 1979, McCain met and began a relationship with Cindy Lou Hensley, a teacher from Phoenix, Arizona, the only child of the founder of Hensley & Co. Also in 1979, he pushed to end his marriage with his wife Carol, who accepted his request for a divorce in February 1980. http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-divorce11-2008jul11,0,4595785,full.story
--- Admitted extramarital Affairs (Plural) on his crippled wife, then leaves her for an young airiest, he was 43 and she was 26. This is just as bad if not worse than John Edward current adulterous scandal.---
McCain and Hensley were married in May 1980 with Republican Senator and future Secretary of Defense William Cohen serving as best man, and Democratic Senator Gary Hart as a groomsman. John and Cindy McCain entered into a prenuptial agreement that keeps most of her family's assets under her name; they would always keep their finances apart and file separate income tax returns.
---His political connections were set by his family legacy. Now all he needed was a benefactor. I would love to know the reasoning behind the preemptive prenuptial? Also, those time frames between met, divorce and marriage are pretty tight
---John ex- wife has never uttered a negative word about him. She has been a charitable benefactor of his relationships. The Reagan's came to her aid with living arrangements and emotional support immediately after the divorce. She became a personal assistant to Nancy Reagan in fall 1979 and in 1981, she became Director of the White House Visitors Office. John McCain in his book admits that his relationship with the Reagan's was strained by his treatment of his wife.---
Living in Phoenix, he went to work for Hensley & Co., his new father-in-law Jim Hensley's large Anheuser-Busch beer distributorship. As Vice President of Public Relations at the distributorship
---Vice President, still riding the coattails of privilege. In the military he basically worked for his father or and his only public sector job was worked for his wife's father.
At this point in McCain's privileged journey, he will now use the money of his new wife, the connections extended by his families military legacy, and greatly embellished military hero status to launch his political career. This document is not a dramatization or based on internet rumors. Every point is based on documented fact unless mentioned otherwise. Most are solely historical fact or based on statements by John McCain. The commentary in red is my effort to allow you to read between the lines. This is the critical assessment that has been void in any public discussions of John McCain. In the end the true character of John McCain is revealed.
